Our story

5 Canoes Vintage & Antiques began as the Penetanguishene Artifacts Collection in 2020, with a focus on vintage and modern memorabilia from Penetanguishene. The name "5 Canoes" comes from a passage in "This Was Yesterday" by John Bayfield and Carole Gerow, describing a fleet of five canoes near the bay's entrance in November 1793. We offer unique 70s and 80s vintage and antique items at a fair price, aiming to provide an online presence and, eventually, a brick and mortar store, alongside running estate sales. In May 2024, I completed the antique appraiser course by the Asheford Institute of Antiques and became a certified P.A.C.C. (Professional Appraisers Code of Conduct) appraiser.
